Voiceovers I (Online)

Voiceover work is one of the most flexible and in-demand skills in the performing arts—and it’s more accessible than most people think. Anyone can read from a script and into a microphone, but can they bring it to life in a way that compels a listener to feel or do something?

Taught by an award-winning voice actor with national and international credits, Voiceovers I is a comprehensive introduction to the art and industry of voice acting, covering the basics of narration, commercials, and promos. You don’t need a particular type of voice or sound—this class helps actors of all kinds make a story believable, whether it’s a 30-second commercial or a feature-length documentary. Students will learn techniques to bring a script to life naturally and authentically by drawing on their own personality, life experiences, and unique voice. This class is also great for any non-actor who wants to hone their skills for public speaking or narration within their profession.

All students receive intensive recorded practice with critique each week.

Unless otherwise indicated below, there are no formal prerequisites for this class—students of all experience levels are welcome! However, if you have no prior acting experience, we suggest taking Intro to Acting and/or Beginning Scene Study to introduce you to core techniques and help you build confidence in the fundamentals of acting.
